Palatka has a new quilt shop. Lemon Street Studio opened in September at 322 St. Johns Ave. The name, Lemon Street Studio, is derived from the historical "Lemon Street". Lemon Street Studio is located in the downtown area in hope of helping promote the rebirth of downtown Palatka.  It prides itself in being “a quaint little quilt shop.”

Lemon Street Studio is about promoting the art form, keeping it alive, and having fun in the process. Seeing that there was a need for this type of venture in Palatka and the surrounding areas, Sam and Lorraine Carr, proprietors, decided to take Lorraine's passion for quilting to the next level.  Installing the 14-foot longarm quilting machine and decorating the shop started in September, 2007 and the Studio began teaching quilting in October.  The teacher is a 12-year Home Economics veteran, Brenda Lewis.  They offer private and group classes for the novice or the seasoned quilter.

Lemon Street Studio prides itself on carrying the highest quality 100% cotton fabric, notions, books, patterns, kits and gifts. Lemon Street Studio also offers quilting on a Gammill Optimum Plus longarm-quilting machine.  Services range from basting for the hand quilter to completion of quilt tops. Lorraine offers her expertise in making quilts for the customer.  Choose your pattern, fabric and style and she can produce custom-made family heirlooms such as t-shirt quilts, baby quilts, and memory quilts.
